A skate park for kids and teenagers, especially beginners, at the Vinzenzwerk in Handorf
Aged wooden ramps and some outdated concrete elements have been shaping the skate park at the Vinzenzwerk Handorf e.V. for some time now. In cooperation with the Titus Company, we will change it in the near future in the form of a "participatory construction site". During the planning young locals & interested people take part of this participation process of the project in a planning and creative manner. In construction workshops on the topic of skateboarding & skate parks the participants learn from experienced skateboarders and skilled workers what to consider during the realization. In this way it’s ensured that the facility meets the needs of the kids. At the same time the interested parties make their own contribution to the practical implementation of the project. In addition to the goal of a long-term use of the area and better integration of the area in sports and education, the focus is clearly on the participation process of the young people during the construction phase on site. There will be a workshop with up to 12 local participants aged 14 and over from mid-August. Completion is scheduled for the end of September 2020. Further workshops and a skateboard contest for both, beginners and advanced skateboarders are planned during an opening week. Furthermore we have planned pedagogically accompanied skateboard workshops a on a regular basis in the follow-up.
